The northern part of Gyeongbokgung, the deepest part of the palace, is finally open to the public.

Enjoy a royal meal at the Oesojubang along with a traditional Korean performance, and start the starlit night walk around the royal palace in the company of a guide. We invite you to tour Gyeongbokgung Palace in the depths of the starlit night.

  ○ Main Activities

    - A nighttime tour including a royal meal at the Sojubang in Gyeongbokgung Palace and visits to building complexes in the northern part of the palace.

The tour is designed to deepen visitors' understanding and appreciation of the history, culture, and landscaped gardens of the palace.

3. Doseuk Surasang

  ○ A special royal meal prepared for special guests.

    - Doseuk is an old Korean word meaning "lunch box", while Doseuk Surasang is a modern version of the royal meal consisting of a main dish and twelve side dishes. It was the finest daily meal served to the king and queen.

    - steamed beef ribs with strips of hongsam

    - lotus root with seafood, pickled spicy octopus, spicy cucumber salad, and kimchi

    - floral honey cookies, candied balloon flower roots, soybean rice cakes

    - Tangpyeongchae, laver chips grilled deodeok, and cooked seasonal vegetables

    - a dish of cooked rice, skewered meat and fish, zucchini panfry, and pan-fried King Oyster mushrooms

    - a cinnamon punch with dried persimmon

    - Goldonggaeng

    - The first, or base-tier, bowl contains Goldonggaeng, a stew cooked with assorted ingredients.

    - Next, the second-tier bowl contains a dish of cooked rice, skewered meat and fish, zucchini panfry, and pan-fried King Oyster mushrooms.

    - The third bowl contains Tangpyeongchae, laver chips grilled deodeok, and cooked seasonal vegetables.

    - Finally, the top-tier bowl contains lotus root with seafood, pickled spicy octopus, spicy cucumber salad, and kimchi.

    - The meal also includes a special "flowery dish" of steamed beef ribs with strips of hongsam, and it is completed with various desserts including floral honey cookies, candied balloon flower roots, soybean rice cakes, and a cinnamon punch with dried persimmon.

4. Starlight Walk

  ○ Entrance - National Folk Museum Square

  ○ Oesojubang - Doseuk Surasang and a performance of traditional Korean Gugak music (duration: 20 minutes) 

    - Group 1 : 18:40 - 19:30

    - Group 2 : 19:40 - 20:30

  ○ Janggo Soy Storage - A short theatrical episode presented by the facility manager Mama Janggo and her assistant.

    - Group 1 : 19:30-19:50

    - Group 2 : 20:30 - 20:50

  ○ Jibokjae, Parujeong and Geoncheonggung - Visits to the palace building complexes including the interiors.

    - Group 1 : 19:50 - 20:10

    - Group 2 : 20:50 - 21:10

  ○ Hyangwonjeong - A special visit to the pavilion via Chwihyanggyo Bridge.

    - Group 1 : 20:10 - 20:30

    - Group 2 : 21:10 - 21:30

  ○ State Seal Stamping : Jegojibo, a state seal used to authorize Emperor Gojong's orders. This seal is one of the ten state seals of the Korean Empire made after the proclamation of the empire in 1897. It was used by Emperor Gojong, the first emperor of the Korean Empire, when he issued important

5. Please Note

  ○ The tour lasts for about 110 minutes including visits to the palace building interiors, so it is recommended to wear comfortable shoes. Visitors are not permitted to use flashes and tripods or to bring food or beverages into the palace.

  ○ Entry Information

    - Registration : The Information Desk at the National Folk Museum of Korea within the premises of Gyeongbokgung Palace.

    - Registration Time : Registration starts at the Information Desk 10 minutes before the start of the tour. Please be punctual as late arrivals may not be allowed to

join the tour.

    - Bad Weather : Based on the KMA forecast issued at 11:00 AM on the day of the tour.

      1~4mm of rainfall : The tour will proceed as planned, but the entrance to some parts may be affected depending on the policy for protecting valuable cultural heritage sites.

      Over 5mm of rainfall : Cancellation of the whole event: Visitors will be informed individually and refunded the full amount of their admission ticket.
